I don’t know why I pictured this being in the 1960s or so, and the woman being a shopkeeper in a town like in Little House on the Prairie, but there you are.
Marge was a simple woman. She always donned a clean frock, no mistakes in her makeup, and her hair was salon-perfect (even at bedtime). She enjoyed growing her prize roses, and baking the best apple pies in the county. Her husband was an accountant, and wasn’t much of a thrill seeker. Marge, on the other hand, longed to see the wild world, and wildlife more than the crocs and iguanas and snakes that inhabited the nearby wetlands.
She worked in the mercantile that she owned, in a small town just outside of Orlando. It was too far off the main thoroughfare to get much tourist traffic from the most-visited city in the United States. The people who ended up inside were intentionally shopping, or desperately lost and afraid to ask directions without browsing and buying.
Marge’s main sources of entertainment were the lost souls in her store, and the lost souls in the jail system.
That’s not much for 5 minutes, but I’m out of practice. If you did this prompt, post your link in the comments and/or in the Facebook Group so that we can all enjoy your masterpiece!
See ya tomorrow 🙂
